Stash Swatch Initiative: Orly Naked Canvas

Hello!

Today I have Orly Naked Canvas swatched up!

Orly Naked Canvas. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
Naked Canvas and is an off-white cream with fine purple shimmer. That shimmer is a little shy, so it'll take some nice, direct light to get it to shine. Once it does, it is beautiful!

Orly Naked Canvas. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
Swatches today are one coat of Duri Rejuvacote, one coat of Sinful Colors Nail Hardener, two surprisingly opaque coats of Naked Canvas, and one coat of Seche Vite. The formula on this is nice -- much nicer than I expected. Whites and pastels can be streaky and hard to apply, but this was smooth and self-leveling. No streaking and easy going!

Orly Naked Canvas. Indoors, artificial light, with flash.

I purchased my bottle from Sally Beauty.

Stash Swatch Initiative: Orly Angel Eyes

Hello!

Today's polish is Orly Angel Eyes!

Orly Angel Eyes. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
Angel Eyes was a surprise for me! I was under the impression that this was a chunky, full coverage glitter with holographic hexes, but that's not it at all! Once I put it on, I realized it's a lot of bright blue microglitter with small iridescent hex glitters in a clear base.

Orly Angel Eyes. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
Swatches today are a base coat of Sinful Colors Base Coat, two coats of Zoya Ibiza, one coat of Angel Eyes, and one coat of NYC In a New York Minute. Formula here is just dandy! It applies very easily, and one coat is the perfect coverage.

Orly Angel Eyes. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
I'm so glad I picked this up - I think I purchased this one on clearance from either Ulta or Sally Beauty some time ago. Have I had this for over a year? I think this might have been from the winter or holiday 2012 collection... Indeed I have! Google confirms, this was one polish from 2012's Naughty or Nice collection. I let this one sit neglected for far too long!

Orly Angel Eyes. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
I'm not sure on the availability of this one. My normal go to for older polishes, Head2Toe Beauty, does not have this collection listed for sale. Happy hunting!

Stash Swatch Initiative: Orly Luxe

Hello!

This is Orly Luxe.

Orly Luxe. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
Luxe is a smooth, gold foil. Cool toned and beautiful.

Orly Luxe. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
Swatches today are a base coat of Seche Clear, two coats of Luxe, and one coat of NYC In a New York Minute. This polish is fantastic. It glides on effortlessly, and dries quickly. It's good for stamping and nail art. It's a great workhorse polish to have.

Orly Luxe. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
I think I bought my bottle from CVS, however, my go-to online retailer for older polishes, Head2Toe Beauty, still has this in stock, along with the others in the Foil FX Collection (I totally recommend Rage, too!).

Stash Swatch Initiative: Orly Rococo A-Go-Go

Hello!

This is Orly Rococo A-Go-Go.

Orly Rococo A-Go-Go. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
Rococo A-Go-Go is a plum jelly polish with tons of metallic, purple shimmer. In the bottle, it's also got some shimmer that shifts from a coppery orange through golden to just touch on green. I couldn't see this on my nails at all really, except for a tiny bit of copper flash here and there. Even if the duochrome part falls flat, this polish is dark and sultry. It is really pretty.

Orly Rococo A-Go-Go. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
Swatches today are a base coat of Seche Clear, two coats of Rococo A-Go-Go, and one coat of NYC In a New York Minute. This polish has a good formula, which provided issue-free application.

Orly Rococo A-Go-Go. Outdoors, sunlight, no flash.
I bought this bottle from Ulta a long time ago. Good bet the Head2Toe Beauty still has it.

Stash Swatch Initiative: Orly Star Spangled

Hello, hello!

Today's polish is Orly Star Spangled.

Orly Star Spangled. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
Star Spangled is a festive red jelly polish packed with red shimmer. This polish has been used as a base for a few holiday manis, and it couldn't be more perfect for celebrating Christmas or the Fourth of July!

Orly Star Spangled. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
Swatches today are one coat of Duri Rejuvacote, two coats of Star Spangled, and one coat of Seche Vite. Formula is superb here. It offers great pigmentation but still retains that jelly look. Clean up was a bit of a bear -- all that bright red polish and shimmer just wanted to hang around on my cuticles.

Orly Star Spangled. Outdoors, sunlight, no flash.
I've had this polish in my stash for quite some time, but if I remember correctly, I found this bottle at CVS. Normal carriers of Orly polish should still have this in stock, but if not, Head2Toe Beauty is a great source for older, or any, polish, really.

Stash Swatch Initiative: Orly Golden Maharaja

Hello! Happy Fourth of July to all my U.S. readers!

Today I have another long-time Orly lemming of mine to show you! This is Golden Maharaja.

Orly Golden Maharaja. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
Golden Maharaja is from the 2008 Gems Collection. Fortunately, Head2Toe Beauty still stocks this one, so even if I was rather late to the party, I was able to get my hands on it!

Orly Golden Maharaja. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
Golden Maharaja is a rich, warm brown polish packed with brown, gold, and copper shimmer. The Gems Collection was released for fall, and this will be a lovely shade to wear in a few months. I love the shimmer, and the incredible shine.

Orly Golden Maharaja. Outdoors, sunlight, no flash.
Swatches today are a base coat of Seche Clear, two coats of Golden Maharaja, and one coat of NYC In a New York Minute. No problems with this polish or it's formula even after all this time.

Stash Swatch Initiative: Orly Au Champagne

Hello!

Orly Au Champagne. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
Today's polish is from Orly's 2011 Holiday Collection, Holiday Soiree. I remember having just gotten into nail polish before this collection was announced, and this one I wanted so much. I failed to find it at Sally's during the holidays, so I waited until just recently to pick it up from Head2Toe Beauty.

Orly Au Champagne. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
This is Au Champagne, a gorgeous, glistening white. This lovely polish is now my go-to white polish. It is packed with white, pearly shimmer that creates a freshly fallen snow look. At a distance, it's a gentle, clean white. Up close, the shimmer appears pearly and opalescent. I can see opalescent shimmers in a few colors, which reminds me of a white, tri-coat vehicle paint. I love it!

Orly Au Champagne. Outdoors, sunlight, no flash.
Swatches today are a base coat of Seche Clear, two coats of Au Champagne, and one coat of NYC In a New York Minute. This polish has a fantastic formula. It is nicely pigmented, or so packed with shimmer, that two coats provides good coverage. I bet this would make a great base for milky glitters!

Stash Swatch Initiative: Orly Gumdrop

Hello!

Orly Gumdrop. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
I have Orly Gumdrop swatched up for today.

Orly Gumdrop. Outdoors, sunlight, no flash.
Gumdrop is a light blue-green creme. It's a little more green than my camera captured here. The last picture is closer to true color. Swatches today are a base coat of Seche Clear, two coats of Gumdrop, and one coat of NYC In a New York Minute. The formula on this is thick. It's a bit streaky on the first coat, but evens out with a second. I used two thicker coats, but that is normal for me.

Orly Gumdrop. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
Gumdrop is part of an older release, the Sweet Collection. Head2Toe Beauty still has it listed at the bottom of the page, here. I think I happened upon my bottle in CVS though...

Stash Swatch Initiative: Orly Crush On You

Hello!
Orly Crush On You. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
This is Orly Crush On You.

Orly Crush On You. Outdoors, sunlight, no flash.
Crush On You is a yellow-orange jelly. It's squishy and shiny and fun. The clean, juicy orange shade is a great base for nail art.

Orly Crush On You. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
Swatches today are a base of Seche Clear, two coats of Crush On You, and one coat of NYC In a New York Minute. While this is not quite opaque in two coats, it was good enough for me. No issues with the formula.

Stash Swatch Initiative: Orly Rage

Hello hello!

A quickie post to show you one of my most reached for polishes. This is Orly Rage.

Orly Rage. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
Rage is a fantastic rose gold foil. I use this a lot. It's great for stamping, but it's an interesting neutral, too. I use this as a base for nail art and glitter often. The formula is great. It is well-pigmented--a one-coater.

Orly Rage. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
Swatches today are a base of Sinful Colors Nail Hardener, two coats of Rage (just to be sure I covered everything), and  one coat of Seche Vite. The great thing about this one is that it is a metallic that doesn't show brushstrokes. It will, however, show imperfections in the nail.

Outdoors, sunlight, no flash.
This one is still widely available. I've seen it Sally Beauty and CVS recently.

NOTW: Champagne Stars

Hello again!!

Today I want to show you a mani I did for New Year's.

Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
My most recent order from Trelly's Misc included a free mini of Berry Christmas, which I don't think was released for sale. I'm hoping it will be because it's a brilliant mix of finer glitters, and I adore it. Berry Christmas has deep blue, periwinkle, rose gold/pink, bright fuchsia glitters, and holo shimmer swimming a clear base. It looks good over a lot of different base colors. I've tried it over OPI Koala Berry and China Glaze Secret-Peri-wink-le.

Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
This mani was inspired by Berry Christmas--the idea came to mind as soon as I saw it. I love it when that happens! For this look, I used a base of Sinful Colors Nail Hardener, one coat of Orly Rage on all but my ring finger, which got one coat of Zoya Ibiza. Once that was dry, I stamped using the same colors and Bundle Monster plates BM05 and BM14. Then I dabbed on Berry Christmas focusing at the top of my nails to create a gradient or 'glitter rain'. Everything then got a generous coat of NYC's In a New York Minute. I loved wearing this!

I tried it matted down with Butter London's Matte Finish a few days later. Equally as pretty!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!!

I have another holiday look to show you today. This was inspired by Joanne of Northern Nails' post, here.

Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
I used a base coat of Sinful Colors Nail Hardener, then three coats of Orly Star Spangled on all fingers but my ring finger, which got three coats of China Glaze Glittering Garland. I topped everything off with Seche Vite. Once it was good and dry, I applied the rhinestones and sealed it all with a few coats of NYC's In a New York Minute.

Outdoors, sunlight, no flash.

This was the most gorgeous in low, indoor lighting. The colors were extremely saturated,  glowy, and jewel-like but impossible for my camera to capture that way!

Enjoy the day! More soon!! ^_^

Stash Swatch Initiative: Orly Nite Owl

Hello again! Where has the time gone? It's the last week of November already!! I feel like the last quarter of this year has gone by in a flash!

Orly Nite Owl. Indoors, artificial and natural light, no flash (near a window).
Today I have one of those polishes that made my first wishlist. This is Orly Nite Owl from the Birds of a Feather Collection from last fall, I think.

Orly Nite Owl. Indoors, artificial light, no flash.
This is a warm grey with a strong silver shimmer. I also think I see a hint of gold shimmer in there every now and then.

Orly Nite Owl. Outdoors, sunlight, no flash.
Swatches today are a base coat of Seche Clear, two coats of Nite Owl, and one coat of Seche Vite. This has a great, no-issue formula. It is subtle at one coat and could be worn that way for a soft look. It it completely opaque, as you see, at two coats.

Orly Nite Owl. Outdoors, sunlight, no flash.
I'm very glad I picked this one up. I can't honestly remember where or when I got this bottle, but I've seen it still at Ulta recently (surprisingly, but maybe that's just my Ulta) and it's still over at Head2Toe Beauty.
